Apple’s iPhone 13 Event Highlights – A Quick Breakdown

Apple recently made a lot of product announcements during its fall product event. The company unveiled four new iPhone 13 models, new iPads, and a new Apple Watch during a virtual event held in California on Tuesday.

The new iPhones will be put up on sale on September 17th, 2021. The Apple Watch Series 7 will ship later this fall. Nothing was mentioned about AirPods though.

The latest iPhone smartphones – the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, the iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max don’t feature any groundbreaking features or changes. This event instead marked a return to the basics with predictable improvements.

This includes faster processing, longer-lasting battery life, and better cameras. The jaw-dropping storage option in the Pro models is a pleasant new addition. If you wish to capture videos in portrait mode, then you have something to invest in.  What’s interesting is that Apple made small upgrades without raising the base price of most of its models.

iPhone 13 Pro Series

The higher-end iPhone 13 Pro series was the highlight of Apple’s event. The 6.1-inch iPhone 13 Pro and the 6.7-inch Pro Max feature the powerful, new A15 Bionic chip which the company has claimed to be ‘the fastest CPU in any smartphone’.

This chip is going to provide improved machine learning capabilities to the device such as the ability to analyze text in a photo and real-time video analysis.

The Pro models pack a five-core CPU with 50 percent faster graphics. This upgrade will appeal to many gamers. The Super Retina XDR display with a faster refresh rate and the all-day battery life are also the highlights of the pro series iPhone models.

One terabyte of storage in these models doubles the prior maximum storage capacity making these models stand out from the rest of the smartphones available these days.

The camera system received a major refresh. It comes with a new 77 mm telephoto lens and new ultra-wide cameras. iPhone 13 Pro starts at $999 and 13 Pro Max would be available from $1,099.

The models are available in silver, gold, graphite, and sierra blue colors. The entire new line would be ready for shipping from the 24th of this month.

iPhone 13 Mini Series

The makers have included the same A15 Bionic chip in the mini-series as the Pro line.  The models feature a dual-camera setup which has been arranged diagonally. With long-lasting batteries, the iPhone 13 can last 2.5 hours longer and mini would last 1.5 hours longer than iPhone 12 on a single charge.

Other noticeable upgrades include a much more efficient display, a new 5G chip, and a tool called Cinematic Mode which is like the popular Portrait mode feature for videos.

iPhone 13 Mini will be available for $699 onwards for 128 GB. iPhone 13 will be available for $799 onwards for 128 GB. The models would be available in five new colors: red, white, black, blue, and pink.

iPad and iPad Mini

Apple also released updates about its latest iPad models at the virtual event. The 10.2-inch iPad features a powerful A13 chip which promises 20 percent faster performance in comparison to the previous models.

The company also claimed that it is 3 times faster than Chromebook. The upgraded iPad features a new 12 MP ultra-wide camera with Center Stage. It relies on machine learning to make adjustments to the front-facing camera while making FaceTime video calls.

The iPad Mini has smaller bezels, rounded corners, and improved cameras on the front and back. The price of a full-size 64GB iPad is about $329. The iPad mini starts from $499.

Apple Watch Series 7

Apple also unveiled its Apple Watch Series 7 during the event. The new watch is slimmer and features a 20 percent larger display than the Series 6. It displays 50 percent more text and also comes with a full keyboard so that you can type text messages with just a tap or swipe. The smartwatch will be available for $399 onwards.
