Dying Light, the first zombie parkour game from Techland has left a long-lasting impression on avid gamers and has received decent support post-release. However, Dying Light 2, which was originally announced in 2018 with a showy trailer, there wasn’t much talked about this game for a long time.
It was delayed until January 2020 near the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the game is now finally ready for release. Techland is doing everything possible to launch the game before the end of 2021.
A recent report published by TheGamer doesn’t send a good picture across the company culture at Techland. The employees complained about the “autocratic” management style of the CEO and over-reliance on external consultants who do not have much knowledge in the games industry.
Moreover, conflicts at the production level, micromanagement, and a high rate of staff turnover contributed collectively to the game launch getting delayed.

Dying Light 2 launch has been delayed until 2022
The team is progressing steadily with the game production. CEO Pawel Marchewka released a statement stating, “The game is complete and we are currently playtesting it”. The project has by far been the most ambitious and the biggest project that the team is currently managing. The CEO further added that they will need more time to polish and optimize the game.
During the Microsoft E3 2019 conference, Dying Light 2 had announced the spring 2020 release window. In January 2020, the company announced its first delay and didn’t provide any new release window. Techland was then found saying that it would launch the game before the end of the year. The release date of December 7, 2021, was also given by the company.

The long demo shown was worth the wait as claimed by many critics. The impressive showcase featured expanded parkour systems, a choice-driven story, and combat.
We also get to see new traversal gadgets such as a swinging hook, pulleys that zip Aiden to the rooftop, and a glider. The premier trailer from 2018 already gave a snapshot of what to expect from the game’s storyline in 2018.
Game to support ray tracing
The lead designer of the game excitedly shared some points about the ray-tracing effects. He said that for players who prefer visual experiences, the makers have prepared something referred to as the Quality mode.
The use of ray-tracing promises better quality of the scene with special emphasis on environment lighting. In this mode, the players will experience greater accuracy of frame elements. There will also be a performance mode that focuses on high-frame-rate to make the experience of fast gameplay elements such as combat or course even smoother.

The lead game designer of Dying Light 2 game divulged some details about the length of the game recently.
He mentioned that while the main story is of 15 to 20 hours, wrapping up everything will take closer to 100 hours or more. It is quite hard to measure this in an open-world game. So how long it actually takes to complete the game depends on how you play it.
Dying Light 2 features narrative choices
One of the major changes in the game is how the city around you will be transformed entirely. Depending on the faction you are choosing, you will come across corresponding banners and colors that splash a bit of life into the region.
