SALESFORCE ANNOUNCES NEW SLACK INTEGRATIONS AFTER CLOSING ON $28 BILLION DEAL

Salesforce Announces New Slack Integrations After Closing on $28 Billion Deal

Today CRM giant Salesforce announced initial integrations with Slack that should prove useful for the SaaS’s customers.

Salesforce announced the availability of new integrations with Slack to create a connected ecosystem that helps enterprises get work done faster through real-time communications software. This is the first integration between these two powerful platforms that give enterprises the opportunity to connect their entire workforce, regardless of where they are in using Salesforce and Slack for real-time communications, sharing information and collaborating on them with anyone across the business.

The new integrations include:

  • @mentions and task assignment in Slack – Salesforce users can share, assign and update tasks on a record directly from Slack. A mention of the Salesforce CRM record in Slack will automatically create a task to help drive accountability, especially when collaborating with partners, customers and non-Salesforce users;
  • Direct message into Salesforce conversations – When a direct message is received from any user, Salesforce conversations will automatically create a thread and notify the thread’s participants;
  • Full text search in Salesforce Chatter feeds – The full text of the notification is indexed to allow users to quickly find all relevant chatter on a record. This integration also enables deeper sharing between these two popular platforms; and,
  • Seamless Chatter feed in Salesforce Lightning – The rich formatting and images from the Chatter feed are now present in Lightning. This integration allows users to efficiently manage their day, both inside and outside of Salesforce using only one unified app.

Salesforce brought together two categories that were not previously connected – social and business applications – to help enterprises get more done faster,” said Scott McCorkle, CEO of Salesforce. “These integrations with Slack are the first step in connecting the rest of the company so employees can now collaborate, communicate and share information without leaving their workflow.”

“Companies today need all workers at every level, regardless of their job function or where they fit into the organization, to be as productive and efficient as possible,” said Stewart Butterfield, CEO and co-founder of Slack. “Slack has been connecting people with different business apps for years and now Salesforce is extending our success in this area to help companies connect all teams.”

Attendees at Dreamforce can see these integrations in action and learn more about them, including how to get started.
