Facebook has confirmed its alliance with luxury eyeglasses and sunglasses brand Ray-Ban to launch its smart glasses today.
The information was also posted on their website. The social media giant has confirmed that the smart glasses will be launched today, i.e., 9th September. The pictures have been leaked ahead of the announcement.
The image has been posted by Evan Blass “Evleaks” depicting three models named Ray-Ban Stories having classic frames and a pair of cameras on each side.

The leaked image shows three classic Ray-Ban frames that include Wayfarer and Meteor. It has a Ray-Ban’s logo with no brand logo of Facebook. Other items shown in the image are the protection bag, case, reference guide, charging cable and warranty.
This announcement came when Facebook’s CEO and Augmented Reality Head, Andrew Bosworth, shared clips on Twitter and Facebook wearing these glasses highlighting adventurous scenarios indicating the weather suitability of the product.
One clip shows Bosworth playing golf, and the other clip shows Zuckerberg paddling a boat.
Facebook has been working on such a project for a very long time. Earlier in July, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg remarked that the smart glasses would be iconic and make you do many nice and smart things.
The CEO also indicated that the Ray-Ban journey would take a step forward towards augmented reality.
Though there is no clarity regarding the functioning of glasses, it would surely be an element of surprise and exciting to see after the official launch.
The promotional teaser shows a pair of glasses with date mentioned as 09.09.2021 and text to sign up for new notifications.
What can be expected from the partnership?
In 2019, there was news that Facebook partnered with Luxottica, the parent company of Ray-Ban and Oakley, to launch smart glasses with augmented reality that would replace smartphones.

These fully augmented reality smart glasses would be a stepping stone for the future. Though much has not been stated about the specifications of the smart glasses, the AR glasses would not include commonly associated features that would project the image into the environment.
Mark Zuckerberg has favored the use of AR and VR many times on social media. The most recent launch of Facebook was Facebook’s Horizon Workrooms.
The product was launched as a virtual reality remote work app where the users of Oculus Quest 2 headsets can hold meetings as avatar versions.
